About The QS Desk

Commercial advice from people who've poured the concrete.

Most bid consultants have never priced a rebar schedule. Most estimators have never argued a final account. The QS Desk exists because the two jobs are one job — and it's done best by people who deliver the work they're pricing.

Who we are

The team behind AXYCAD

The QS Desk is the commercial arm of AXYCAD Ltd — a specialist reinforced concrete and civils contractor whose team has spent nearly two decades delivering major UK infrastructure: HS2, National Highways, the water industry.

That matters because commercial work done at arm's length goes wrong in predictable ways. A variation written up by someone who's never stood on a pour doesn't read like the site. A programme narrative from someone who's never sequenced formwork doesn't survive a buyer's questions. Ours do, because we've done the work we write about.

The straight answer

On conflicts of interest

AXYCAD is itself a contractor and bids for work. So here is the rule, in writing, the same way it appears in every engagement letter: we won't act for you on any package we're bidding or intend to bid. If we ever find ourselves on both sides of something, you'll hear it from us within a working day and we'll step off your side of it.

If you'd rather we simply never bid anything you're bidding while we work together, say so — and we'll write that into the agreement instead.
